Not even Ramasun’s tail could stop these robbers

Article from the Star by Stephen Then,

MIRI: While residents in northern Sarawak huddled every night in fear of yet another storm from Typhoon Ramasun's ''tail'', a gang of armed robbers struck in Miri City, targeting the family of a rich towkay who is involved in the shipping and fishing industry.
This gang of six masked men armed with shotguns held up the towkay's family of 11 in their house at a residential estate on Thursday night at about 9pm. The men wearing haze masks tied up the entire household before ransacking their house and robbing them of cash and jewellery worth some RM40,000 while the family were holed up in their house in fear of Typhoon Ramassun's ''tail''.
The robbers beat up the towkay, who is in his 60s, before looting the household.
However, the towkay was not seriously injured.

The armed men were said to have busted into the house from a back door while the family members were in the living room.

Miri Police Chief Asst Comm Jamaluddin Ibrahim on Friday said the police have reason to believe that the gang could be made up of foreigners.

''We are still investigating. We have obtained some details from the victims and descriptions of the robbers,'' he said.

Police on Friday launched a manhunt for these armed and dangerous men.

What a shameless and cruel act of the robbers! Want fast money jual burit la..
